ah, california sunshine :)

eli is 7.5 weeks old! i recently went through all the pictures we have taken of him and the pictures from delivery day and i still am amazed that he is here :) it truly is a miracle and we are thankful every day.

we flew to california this past weekend...with a 7 week old! i admit i was pretty anxious about the whole thing but i really wanted to do it before we take our big trip to washington d.c., virginia, and kentucky in mid-october. eli did great on the plane ride both to cali and back home -sleeping much of the ride. we will see how he will do on the longer ride to the east coast; i am sure i will have some interesting stories for the blog!

the weekend was jam packed but well worth it. grandpa owen rode his motorcycle from bakersfield leaving at 4:30am just to meet up with us and meet his fifth grandchild. after some breakfast he rode back in the california sun to bakersfield.

we were able to visit gabby in davis, ca. gabby just started a big adventure as a ucd grad student. she is going for her PhD in organic chemistry which boggles my mind. isn't she supposed to be 12 years old still?? nope! she is even teaching a lab. i wish i had someone that cool as my o-chem lab teacher :) and she says it's going well...meaning nothing has blown up yet!

she gave us a tour of some of the campus. 7 huge egghead displays were found around the campus; very similar to brancusi's sleeping muse from 1910 (fun fact from aaron- he's so smart).
'sleeping muse' 1910
'yin and yang'...and gabby and dad :)
'bookhead'
'eye on mrak (fatal laff)'

after seeing the new apartment and walking around in some serious heat on the uc davis campus we got some tasty burgers at burgers and brew. the jalapeno bacon burger with garlic fries hit the spot!

and on sunday we went to our good ol home church, calvary chapel san ramon. oh it was so nice to see everyone and to hear the word and nothing but the word!

i think eli liked california and the sunshine. all in all, it was a great weekend, too short but great nonetheless.
